We are already beginning to realise the tremendous potential that renewable energy sources hold. For example, 99 percent of Costa Rica's electricity comes from renewable energy sources; wind power produces 97 percent of Scotland's household electricity needs, while in the US, a new solar energy system is installed every three minutes. Even corporate giants all over the world are adopting the green behaviour. Intel leads the US Environmental Protection Agency's (EPA) Green Power Partnership National Top 100 list. The world's largest retailer, Walmart is one of the leading producers of solar energy with 145 MW capacity while Apple is committed to running on 100 percent renewable energy.

Yet, we have only scratched the surface. If used to its fullest extent, sunlight falling on the earth for an hour could meet the world's energy demands for an entire year! At the pace which we are turning to renewable sources, solar power may be the world's main source of power by 2050. So much so, that Europe and North Africa could run on 100 percent renewable energy by 2050.

India in the midst of global green energy revolution

Amid this global transformation, India is witnessing its own revolution with the government heavily encouraging renewable sources. We have the world’s largest renewable sources programme that aspires to produce 175 GW of energy till 2022.

We have already achieved an increase in our solar capacity to the tune of 370 percent in the last three years, from 2.6 GW to more than 12.2 GW. With this we have also achieved reduction in solar tariffs by more than 75 percent using plug and play model. Apart from that, India also got the highest ever wind capacity addition by 5.5 GW in 2016-17.

At .Kreate, we are at the crux of this global evolution. We see ourselves as not just buyers and traders of green power in the country, but responsible and accountable participants in bringing about a behaviour change and shaping a new reality.

Working towards a greener tomorrow

With .Kreate Green Energy, we intend to use our ideas, experience and R&D focus to combat potential power crisis and climate change. This means constantly developing new products and services to enable mainstreaming of renewable energy projects. We have already installed about 1000 KW of solar rooftop projects and have also started developing small hydro plants, expanding our power generation capacity to 25-30 MW. We also seek to participate in community activities promoting a self-sustaining village model around our projects and activities.

The ultimate objective is to reduce carbon foot prints in industries while promoting, encouraging and helping create a greener ecosystem that will lay the foundation for a world, where we all can grow exponentially, and yet in a sustainable manner.
